In just minutes, you can whip up a crunchy, spicy-savory mix that's perfect for unexpected guests, gorgeous charcuterie spreads, or heartfelt homemade gifts. The best part? It's *ridiculously* easy to throw together - exactly what we all need during the whirlwind holiday season.
Imagine walking into a party with a beautifully packaged bag of this addictive snack mix or greeting surprise visitors with a bowl of these perfectly seasoned nuts and pretzels. The blend of smoky almonds, zesty jalapeño pistachios, and crisp pretzels creates a flavor explosion that'll have everyone asking, "What IS this?" And you'll just smile, knowing how simple it was to create.
Note: I buy the nuts at Costco, pretzels at Fry’s/Kroger, and the fried jalapeno slices at Trader Joe’s (they are also sold at most grocery stores). This is a really forgiving mix. Want more heat? Add more pistachios or jalapeño slices. We also love subbing in Chile Roasted Wonderful Shelled Pistachios for the Jalapeno Lime flavor, and leaving out the fried jalapeño pieces. You could add in other roasted nuts. The key that makes everything taste great is the combination of the spices on the pistachios and the smokehouse almonds mixing together and flavoring all the other nuts. The pretzel twists are a new addition this year. They have a buttery taste that works well with the nuts! You will want a LARGE bowl for this recipe. Try a restaurant supply store or order this one from Amazon.
Directions:
Toast contents of one 2 lb. bag Kirkland Signature Pecan Halves on a cookie sheet at 400 degrees for approximately 8-10 minutes. Add pecans to a large heatproof bowl.
To the bowl of toasted pecans, add:
1 - 2.5 lb. bag Fancy Whole Cashews, roasted with sea salt
1 - 22 oz. bag Wonderful Shelled Pistachios, Jalapeño Lime flavor
1 - 45 oz bag Smokehouse Almonds
1 - 5.5 oz. bag Trader Joe’s Fried Jalapeño Pieces, add more if desired (if you love spice, you may want to try adding a second bag)
1 - 16 oz. bag Dot’s Homestyle Pretzel Twists, add half the bag to start and adjust amount as desired
Package in food-safe bags and tie with festive ribbon to give as gifts, or buy small holiday themed bowls, fill with nuts and wrap with cellophane, tie with matching ribbon.
